Frequently Asked Questions – Latin Crash Diet
1.- HOW MUCH WEIGHT IS LOST PER WEEK?
Changes on the scale are highly variable, but one to two pounds (1/2 to 1 kilogram) is expected to be lost per week. Some will go much lower, others almost nothing. But do not be discouraged because the challenge is based on the changes in the photograph and not on weight loss. So if you’re losing weight, stick with your program even when you’re not losing weight.
2.- HOW ARE AFFECTED MEASURES PER WEEK?
They are expected to reduce 1/3 inch (1 cm) to 2 inch (5 cm) in waistline in a week. After the first week, you generally go down in measurements more slowly, but there will never be a rule for these, as many people go down faster in the fourth week than in the first. Therefore, do not be discouraged if in the first week it only goes down one centimeter.
3.- DOES IT JUST LOWER YOUR WAIST?
No. Although the program is designed so that you lose more waist than in other parts of the body, you will notice that you will also reduce the abdomen, hips, thighs, arms, and sometimes even shoulders.
4.- WHAT ARE THE BEST VEGETABLES TO LOSE WEIGHT QUICKLY?
As a general rule, all green vegetables and especially green leaves give a great reduction speed. All vegetables can be used, but be careful with potatoes, corn, beets, carrots, peas, and all tuberoses, as they increase the calories of the program. This can cause it to go down slower. If you are using them, only add small portions for flavor and not to fill your stomach.
5.- CAN I USE ANY OIL TO STEW OR COOK MY FOODS?
Sure you can use it, but this will increase the calories in the program, and this may slow you down. The advice is to use the cooking spray so that the food does not stick to the pan.
6.- WHAT CONDIMENTS CAN I USE?
You can use all the seasonings and herbs you want. A reduction plan doesn’t have to taste horrible. Become the best chef in your city and prepare your food with the seasonings that you like the most. There are some condiments that have been associated with an increase in the ability to mobilize fat in the body.
These are pepper, mustard, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, Himalayan salt, sea salt, chili peppers (the more they spice, the more they help to mobilize fat), the grains of Paradise (the found on the Internet), garlic, and ginger. Many seasonings and herbs also help us eliminate toxins from the body, which is why they indirectly favor the elimination of body fat. They are coriander, turmeric, saffron, rosemary, cinnamon, cardamom, fennel, and dill.
7.- CAN MEN APPLY THIS PROGRAM?
Yes, but it is highly recommended that you add the smoothie indicated below. The plans contain only 1,250 calories, which may be too strict a program for most men. If they are getting very hungry (most likely), increase one or more of the following 188 calorie shake so that you can continue the program without discomfort for the four weeks:
Smoothie: ½ cup of plain nonfat yogurt
¼ medium avocado
½ banana
Water to taste
All the ingredients are blended and it should be taken preferably between meals.
You can add more than one smoothie a day.
8.- CAN CHILDREN DO THIS PROGRAM?
Yes and no. Yes, they can, as long as they have the authorization of their pediatrician. A child should eat no less than 1,500 calories per day, or they are at risk of developing obesity in adulthood, and these programs only provide 1,250 calories. For the same reason, the child would have to add the smoothie recommended in question
Another option is for the child to follow any of the programs and ALSO add everything they want to eat at the time they want. This would make the meal plan very easy for the mother, since she can put both her children and her husband on a diet, remembering that adding a smoothie indicated in question 7 will cover the minimum caloric needs of the whole family.
9.- CAN I DO THE PROGRAM IF I AM OVER 55 YEARS OLD?
Yes and no. Yes they can, but they must have the approval of your doctor, and PLUS the doctor must be monitoring your progress. A 1,250 calorie program does not have to cause malnutrition in a month, but if you are already malnourished before starting your program, the program is not for you. Your doctor will inform you whether or not you have signs of malnutrition. If there is malnutrition, you can definitely apply this program by adding the smoothie indicated in question seven, but you must forget about trying to lose weight quickly. Improving your nutrition is your priority rather than losing weight. By the way, if there is malnutrition, it is most likely that following these programs will not reduce weight, but it will reduce measures.
10.- CAN I DO THE PROGRAM IF I AM PREGNANT?
Yes and no. According to the WHO, the minimum amount a woman should eat in pregnancy is 1,500 calories per day and this plan only provides 1,250 calories. You can add 188 extra calories with the shake indicated in question 7, and this covers the minimum requirements. One option is to use either plan as your base to get 1,250 calories in a balanced way, PLUS add whatever food you want at any time you want. But it is necessary that you have the approval and care of your gynecologist, who will also indicate the vitamins and minerals to add to your menu.
11.- CAN I USE THE PLANS IF I HAVE ANY ILLNESS?
Yes. However, it is essential that you have the approval of your doctor. Any of these programs can promote better blood glucose and blood pressure control, as well as help lower cholesterol and triglycerides. This necessarily means that the medication you are taking should be adjusted accordingly, and this should only be done by your doctor. There are certain medications for the control of blood pressure that can be very dangerous if stopped abruptly, so before playing with your health, better let your doctor take care of your case.
12.- CAN I USE PRODUCTS TO INCREASE THE LOSS OF WEIGHT AND MEASURES?
It has no case. Maybe it will go down faster, but this will favor that by suspending your plan, you raise what you lost, and recover even more than what you eliminated. It is not a good idea to take risks with your health.
13.- HOW SHOULD I ORGANIZE MY SCHEDULES?
Upon awakening: you have half an hour to eat your food. This helps you speed up your metabolism and lose fat more easily. If you usually eat breakfast immediately after waking up, you can save this food for another time of day, or combine it with your breakfast.
Breakfast: do your best to always have breakfast at the same time. This will help you go down faster. Eat your breakfast no more than 3 hours after waking up.
Morning Snacks: Try to eat this food in a space between breakfast and lunch. For example, if you have breakfast at 8 am and have lunch at 12 pm, the ideal time to have your morning meal is at 10 am.
Lunch: do the impossible to eat your lunch always at the same time. This will help you go down faster.
Evening Snacks: Try to eat this food somewhere in between lunch and dinner. For example, if you eat lunch at 12 pm and dinner at 6 pm, the ideal time to have a snack is 3 pm.
Dinner: do your best to always have dinner at the same time. This will help you go down faster.
Falling asleep: Once you are about to fall asleep, take your last meal, brush your teeth, and enjoy your sleep.
14.- WHAT IS THE BEST VEGETABLE PROTEIN?
This question corresponds to the vegan diet. The best option is to buy the powder that is prepared with multiple vegetables. This product should contain minimal amounts of carbohydrates and fiber. This is very important because the vegan program, like all the others, includes a high amount of fiber. Buy the product that has about 20 grams of protein for 30 grams of product. We do not recommend the use of soy protein isolate, unless it is the only product available, and it does not cause intestinal inflammation.
15.- CAN I CHANGE THE INDICATED FRUITS FOR OTHERS THAT I LIKE MORE?
Yes. However, in order not to modify the total caloric value, it is important that you divide the fruits into two groups. The first group is melon, papaya, watermelon, and strawberries as they contain similar amounts of calories. All other fruits are interchangeable with each other. That is, you can change a banana for a cup of pineapple, or an apple and vice versa. Be careful to repeat the banana too many times, as it is a fruit with a high caloric value.
16.- IF THE PINEAPPLE IRRITATES MY STOMACH, CAN I CHANGE IT FOR ANOTHER FRUIT?
Yes. Since pineapple is intended to improve digestion, the ideal fruit to use instead of pineapple is 1.5 cups of papaya.
17.- WHAT IS THE BEST DIET FOR ME?
We have a rule about diets: the best diet in the world is the one you do, and the worst diet in the world is the one you don’t.
This means that my best plan is going to be the one that I enjoy the most and the one that makes me feel the best. Some go vegan and feel great, and others just don’t feel good. Don’t force a plan because you are helping the friend down too fast.
This can only cause you to hate your reduction program and no longer want to stick with that plan or any other. If possible, try all the plans, even if each one for just one day, so that you can ultimately decide which one you enjoy the most. Even if you enjoyed more than one, you may be interspersing them according to your liking, or you may decide to implement a different plan each day of the week.
Changing programs is an excellent option, as long as it is practical for you. Now, the plans last at least 24 hours. Do not change breakfast from one plan to dinner from another plan, as this can affect the nutritional balance formula. And remember that the best diet in the world is the one you do.
18.- SHOULD I TAKE SOME SPECIAL CARE WITH THESE DIETS?
Yes and no. The general population can enjoy any of these programs without special care. However, if you have diabetes mellitus, you should be careful not to increase your blood glucose through laboratory studies, including finger pricking. If your program does not raise your glucose, then you need to be careful not to lower it too quickly, which is why you should keep checking your glucose. Typically, these programs help you improve the control of your disease, and therefore your doctor should adjust your medication accordingly. Something similar happens with high blood pressure, as it tends to normalize. Final conclusion: if you have any disease, this does not contraindicate the use of the programs, but it is essential that you do it together with the authorization and care of your doctor.
19.- CAN I PRESENT ANY ANNOYANCE WITH THESE PROGRAMS?
It does not have to present discomfort. If there are discomfort, this may mean that you have a condition that you should review with your doctor. Now, if you are ingesting trace amounts of fiber, these programs may cause minor intestinal discomfort such as mild bloating. This is because you are going to increase the fiber to the amount that it should ALWAYS have ingested. If the intestinal discomfort is moderate or severe, be aware that it may be inflammation of the appendix or the gallbladder, and these problems require immediate medical attention.
20.- CAN I PREPARE ALL THE LIQUEFIED AT THE SAME TIME?
This question refers to detox and vegan diets, where you should prepare four smoothies a day. Definitely, you can prepare all four smoothies in a single occasion. Strict dietitians will tell us that this causes the nutritional value to be lost by not taking them instantly, and they are right. But there is also the rule that “the best diet in the world is the one that is done”, and if you are going to stop taking smoothies because it complicates your life too much, it is preferable to have a little of something than nothing at all. But you must be careful to refrigerate it well (do not keep it in the refrigerator door, since the temperature is very variable there), and to store it in a glass container.
